SUMMARY:EPD's Working Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The State Asphalt Pavement Associations in NY\, PA\, NJ\, WV\, MD and DE\, have partnered with NAPA to bring this workshop webinar to our members as well as State\, County & Local Transportation Officials. \nThe practice of low embodied carbon asphalt procurement is now a reality in our part of the US. NY recently released their green procurement policy\, Delaware advised they will require EPDs with all asphalt mixes in 2024 and the NY-NJ Port Authority has implemented their Clean Construction Program. \nJoseph Shacat\, NAPAs Director of Sustainable Pavements\, will be the keynote presenter. He will provide an overview of where the Federal and State governments stand with green procurement of construction materials\, why the time is now to start developing EPDs\, what inputs you need to start creating EPDs and what software tool is available to produce an asphalt mix EPD. \nWe will also have a panel of subject matter practitioners available\, who have already produced EPDs for their company\, to answer any questions. Please share this workshop with anyone who would benefit. \nBelow is the link to register.\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_v50Di-RqRBWAyG_MGfJNqw \n

SUMMARY:NJAPA Educational Webinars
DESCRIPTION:NJAPA is preparing a series of educational webinars for engineers\, contractors\, consultants as well as public and private project owners. All programs are eligible for NJ Professional Engineering continuing education credits and NJ Society of Asphalt Technologists continuing education credits.  All webinars are scheduled for 10am. \nJanuary 18\, 2022 – 10am – 12:00 pm\nFee:  NO COST \nGetting Started with Environmental Product Declarations: An Overview of Current Practice & Policy Considerations for NY and NJ\nPresented By Joseph Shacat\, Director of Sustainable Pavements\nNational Asphalt Pavement Association \nEnvironmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are environmental labels that quantify the environmental impacts associated with manufacturing asphalt mixtures and other construction materials. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) recently became the first public agency on the east coast to require paving contractors to submit EPDs for asphalt mixtures. Initially\, PANYNJ will only use EPDs for informational purposes\, but the agency plans to use EPDs to develop procurement policies that aim to reduce the carbon footprint of asphalt mixtures and other construction materials. Meanwhile\, the Federal government is considering EPD requirements at both the policy level (for direct Federal procurement\, such as National Parks and Department of Defense facilities) and through legislation (which would affect federally funded state and local highway projects). \nDuring this webinar\, you will learn what EPDs are\, how to develop them\, and the basics of how to interpret the information in an EPD. We will also discuss implications for procurement policy that paving contractors and asphalt mix producers should consider as PANYNJ and other agencies move forward with new requirements related to EPDs. \nClick here to register for this program. \nFebruary 3\, 2022 – 10am\nBest Practices for Constructing Commercial Parking Lots\nPresented by Tim Murphy\, Murphy Pavement Technology \nFebruary 14\, 2022 – 10am\nInnovations in Hot Mix Asphalt and Binders\nPresented by Phil Blankenship\, PE\nBlankenship Asphalt Technology & Training \nAny questions please contact the NJAPA office at (609) 838-1867 or email Stacey Lindenmuth at staceyl@njapa.com \n
